Property in Tenerife
Tenerife is the most popular holiday island in the Canaries, just a four hour flight from the UK and pretty much guaranteed sunshine all year round. With all the major flight operators it is possible to fly to Tenerife every day of the week so if you wanted a quick weekend break or a week’s holiday, Tenerife is an accessible and popular holiday destination. As a result the property market remains buoyant, with property prices rising on average by more than 10% per annum.
Excellent all year round weather means Tenerife has become a popular golfing paradise for golfers from all over Europe, with six championship courses in the south and a further 3 in the north. The growth of this popular sport has fuelled many of the property developments in Tenerife, with golfers increasing the demand for accommodation and many buying a second home on the island.
With so many superb courses available, Tenerife is fast replacing southern Spain as the European Golf-get-away destination. The latest edition to the Tenerife Golf Circuit is the 5 star Abama hotel with its challenging 18 holes championship golf course on the west coast of the island near Playa San Juan.
The beaches along the Tenerife coastline are fantastic, the natural beaches with their characteristic black sand, and the man-made beaches such as the Del Duque beach with brilliant white sand. The man made beach was created by removing the coastal rock and then dredging the sand from 4 or 5 miles out to sea and transferring the sand to land. They then put a retaining barrier across the front of the beach to prevent the tide dragging the sand back to sea. They have plans for this in a small village on the west coast called Callao Salvaje, the village itself has been developed and people that have brought there expect to get a high return on their investment once the beach is in place. You can still buy property in Callao Salvaje at a very reasonable price.
In the south of Tenerife we all live in a small area so any destination is only ten minutes away, we very rarely have traffic jams, so buying a property not in the famous Los Cristianos or Las Americas area is not a problem because you could be in these areas either in a cheap cab ride or drive yourself and be there in no time. It is nothing like the time it might take you to make the same journey back in the UK. Buying a property slightly out of town can save you a fortune in the cost of your ideal holiday home.
Tenerife is still developing all along the coastline from the wind and kite surfing paradise of El Medano right up to the cliffs of Los Gigantes. There is some beautiful property being developed along these coastal towns and villages, all just a short distance from the heart of the major tourist resorts. These areas are well worth the consideration of investment.
Tenerife has so much more to offer than just Los Cristianos and Las Americas.
The famous Loro Parque has started their new park right here in the south of Tenerife and it is going to be spectacular. It is said that the park will be based on the original in Puerto de la Cruz but with more of a themed element added to it. This will bring visitors from all round the world and can only be good news for residents and homeowners.
In summary Tenerife is a place of paradise and only a few hours away from Europe and the UK, good weather all year round with plenty to do for all the family. With beautiful beaches, fun parks, water parks, thrill parks, golf courses, great eating and superb nightlife, what else could you ask for.
